What was the most shocking thing you did not know about birth?

This is a fun question to ask mommas after they had their first baby. For me I was shocked that I actually would bleed for a while after giving birth. I had no clue and it never crossed my mind as to what would happen "down there" after baby came out. I think I was so fixated on the prize after birth (my baby) that it completely did not click that things would still be going on down under. Share with me what you were most shocked about in the comments below!

Here is a great trick to helping soothe a sore bottom after baby. I made these with my son as well as my daughter. Pretty cheap to prep and they feel oh so amazing after the fact! Click the button below the picture for the recipe to make them.

I was shocked at the afterbirth cramping I experienced while breastfeeding right after birth. The cramping was almost as bad as during the birth. No one told me about that!

I had no idea it was possible for the cervix to get caught on the baby's head and have to be "moved" by the doctor in order for the cervix not to tear.... That was a shock, even with all the training I've had, it was something I'd never heard of before.

Yes with him being turned in a funky way his head was not properly pressing on the whole cervix which can cause that lip! Glad you had a great team with you!!

Hemroids! I never knew what one was until I was walking around with an itchy tomato hanging out of my butt! I had them the worst with my first and had to have a steroid cream when nothing else worked.

I was also under the impression that you only tore down by your butt. I was shocked when I found out I tore up through my labia and clitoris. Labia is still split. :(

I tore up as well. But I just tore up my labia, not my clitoris. Ouchies :(
